Poetry and Politics " Has poetry ceased to penetrate our national consciousness because we are no longer stirred by what's being said? When was the last time a poet made enough noise to be threatened with censorship?" Article by Juan Vidal

Poets keep telling me that poetry isn't as popular as it once was. But there are more poets writing poetry than ever before. So why is it less popular? Are most poets writing poems only for other poets? Is contemporary poetry too enigmatic and too free of rhythm and rhyme for Mary Jones and John Smith? Is the public's perception of poetry the reason for its declining popularity?

You'll discover answers to those and other questions in an upcoming blog at my blogspot.
